A dear friend died from a heart attack at the age of 44, leaving behind a wife and three children under the age of sixteen.

And yet, my mother-in-law continues to live and breathe, thus proving two cliches:

Life isn't fair.

Only the good die young.

On a much more cheerful note, I'm going to be in New York City September 12-16, if anyone wants to get together for coffee.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It always adds an element of tragedy when young children are left without a parent and a spouse is left to raise them alone.

Unfortunately you'll be in NYC during the Jewish holidays so I'll be in Connecticut with my family.
*hugs tightly* I'm so sorry darling. I know how awful that feeling is...

I'll let you know about September. That may be fun ^_^
So sorry about your friend. Life is definitely not fair!
I'm so sorry for your loss. Sometimes it really feels like there's no justice in the world. *hugs*
i'm sorry to hear about your friend...it happened to me, too in 1983 when my boyfriend died suddenly at age 47. that leads me to believe that you are correct:

"life isn't fair" and "only the good die young"

i wish i were going to be in nyc while you're there, i would have loved meeting for a coffee...but i'm going on sept. 26. are you going for pleasure?
